Meanings, severity levels, safe checks you can perform, and when to call a technician.
Enter the code shown on your range display
Is it safe to keep using it?
Depends on code severity. Low/Medium codes often allow continued use, High severity requires immediate stop.
Can error codes be reset?
Some codes clear after power cycle. Persistent codes indicate underlying issues needing repair.
When should I stop using it?
Stop immediately for water leak codes, burning smell, or any High severity error.

Common Symptom
E0
iQ controller comms lost
High
On Modernist series ranges with the iQ controller, the oven and cooktop sections stop sharing status information. One section may show idle while the other is active.
View
E1
Control power supply fault
High
The control display brightness fluctuates or the display cycles through startup screens just before settling on E1 — a direct indicator that the board is not receiving stable regulated voltage.
View
E2
Sensor circuit out of range
Medium
An independent oven thermometer confirms the actual cavity temperature swings more than 50°F above or below the set temperature on a consistent basis.
View
E3
Gas valve ignition fault
High
The Heritage series oven attempts ignition several times — you can hear repeated clicking and smell brief gas — but the burner never sustains a flame and E3 appears.
View
E4
Gas pressure sensor fault
High
The oven does not heat on bake or broil — the igniter may click but the burner never lights, and E4 is displayed indicating a gas supply or pressure monitoring fault.
View
F1
Oven temp sensor open
High
The oven shuts off during bake or roast and will not resume heating. The cavity temperature drops steadily after the fault triggers.
View
F2
Oven over-temperature
High
Items in the oven are burnt or charred because the cavity exceeded the programmed temperature by a significant margin before the safety cutoff engaged.
View
F3
Oven temp sensor shorted
High
Selecting bake, broil, convection, or any cooking mode immediately triggers F3 with no heating activity. The unit is completely locked out.
View
F4
Broil burner circuit fault
Medium
Selecting broil mode produces clicking from the igniter but the broil burner never lights. After several failed attempts, the board displays F4.
View
F5
Door lock motor fault
Medium
Pressing self-clean causes the lock motor to buzz or click but the latch does not engage. The cycle will not start and F5 appears on the display.
View
F6
Control board comms fault
High
The bake or broil mode works but the other does not, or convection fan runs but heating does not activate. The board that lost communication controls the non-working function.
View
F7
Stuck key or touchpad fault
Medium
The oven starts, stops, or changes modes without user input as if someone is pressing buttons on the touchpad. Settings change randomly.
View
F8
Bake burner circuit fault
High
Selecting bake mode produces igniter clicking but the bake burner never lights. The oven cavity remains cold and F8 appears after the ignition timeout.
View
F9
Oven thermal runaway
High
A pronounced burning or scorching smell comes from the oven during a standard bake or roast cycle at normal temperature settings — well before the oven should reach any dangerous temperature.
View
F10
Control board internal fault
High
No cooking mode starts, no temperature responds, and no function other than the clock or display backlight may be active — the control board is alive enough to show F10 but nothing else.
View
F11
Igniter module comm fault
Medium
Turning any surface burner knob to the ignite position produces no clicking sound and no spark — the igniter module is offline and not responding to ignition commands.
View
F12
Control board memory fault
High
Clock time, oven temperature offset, timer preferences, and any custom settings stored in the board are gone after each power cycle — the board cannot write to its memory.
View
LOC
Control panel locked
Low
The control display shows LOC or a padlock symbol and no oven function, timer, or temperature entry responds to button presses — the entire oven control is locked out.
