Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Yes. Control lock is a user-activated safety feature, not a malfunction. The oven is safe when properly unlocked.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. Holding the designated lock button for 3-5 seconds releases the control lock on all Dacor models.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Stop and consult the manual if the standard unlock sequence does not release the lock after two attempts — each Dacor series uses a slightly different key combination., If LOC reappears immediately after clearing without any button press, there may be a stuck key fault (see F7) rather than an intentional lock..
Symptoms You May Notice
LOC displayed and all buttons non-responsive
The control panel displays LOC or a padlock icon and no button press starts any function — the entire touchpad is locked out.
Oven will not start after pressing BAKE or BROIL
Pressing any cook-mode button produces either no response or a single short beep, but the oven does not begin heating.
Lock was activated by a child or accidental button hold
Control lock on Dacor ovens activates when certain buttons are held for 3-5 seconds. It is commonly triggered accidentally by a cloth resting on the panel or by a child pressing buttons.
Oven is fully operational once lock is cleared
Unlike genuine fault codes, clearing LOC restores the oven to full normal operation immediately — there is no underlying malfunction.
Possible Causes
Control lock intentionally activated
The control lock feature was enabled deliberately via the panel key sequence to prevent accidental operation, particularly common in households with young children.
DIY PossibleAccidental button hold
A cleaning cloth, a piece of paper, or leaning against the panel held a key long enough to trigger the automatic control lock sequence.
DIY PossibleSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Unlock using the panel key sequence
On most Dacor Heritage (HWO) and Modernist (DOB/DOP) ovens, press and hold the CANCEL or LOCK button for 3 seconds until you hear a beep and LOC disappears. On some Contemporary (CPD) models the key combination is BAKE + CANCEL held simultaneously for 3 seconds. Consult your model's manual for the exact sequence.
The unlock sequence is the same as the lock sequence — hold the same button(s) for 3 seconds to toggle.
-
2
Power cycle if unlock sequence is unresponsive
If the panel lock appears to be stuck and the unlock sequence produces no beep or change, turn off the circuit breaker for 2 minutes. The control lock state is stored in volatile memory on some Dacor models and will clear on a full power cycle.
If LOC returns immediately after the power cycle and no buttons were pressed, a stuck touchpad key may be holding the lock active — refer to F7 troubleshooting.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Control lock cannot be cleared by any key sequence and persists after a power cycle — possible touchpad or board fault requires service.
- LOC appears alongside another fault code — service the underlying fault first, then attempt to clear the lock.
